CALBIGA RIVER MINI-HYDROPOWER PROJECT

The proposed project area is located in the west central section of Samar Island. It is within the political jurisdiction of Barangays Literon and Caamlongan, Municipality of Calbiga, Province of Samar. The project site is about 8-11 aerial kilometers southeast of Calbiga town proper.

The town of Calbiga is bounded to the north by the Municipalities of San Sebastian and Hinabangan, Samar, to the east by Borongan, Eastern Samar, to the south by the Municipality of Pinabacdao, Samar, to the west by Villareal Bay and to the northwest by Maqueda Bay. Calbiga is about 22 to 25 aerial kilometers southeast of Calbayog City, the provincial capital of Samar. It is a bustling town located along the highway.

The proposed Calbiga River MHP is accessible from the highway in Calbiga by turning at crossing of Barangay Poblacion, using the all-weather barangay road to about 10 to 12KM towards the vicinities of Barangay Literon proper, passing several barangays. Barangay Literon is located near the middle section of Calbiga River.
